Welcome. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) describe the rights and responsibilities that apply when you visit, create an account, participate in, or contribute content to this website (the “Site”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By accessing or using the Site, creating an account, or submitting content, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The Site is currently operating as an Alpha proof of concept. We are testing both the technology and the concept behind the community. Features, policies, functionality, and these Terms may change as we learn from Alpha participants and prepare for later versions of the Site. Initial users need not be actively part of the Alpha Contributor program but simply subscribers and participants. These terms of service apply to anyone who chooses to use this site.
These Terms include the Community Guidelines below. By agreeing to these Terms, you also agree to follow those Guidelines.
1. About the Alpha
The Alpha version of the Site is an experimental service under active development. Features may be added, changed, temporarily unavailable, or removed. Errors may occur, and portions of the Site may not always work as intended.
Participation in the Alpha does not guarantee that any particular feature, Seed Type, discovery method, community function, or other aspect of the Site will remain available or operate in the same way in future versions.
We expect to review these Terms and our policies after Alpha testing and again as the Site moves toward Beta and a broader public release.
We welcome and actively encourage feedback from Alpha participants. These people will help us determine what this site will become. Feedback about the Site may be used to improve, modify, or develop the service without creating an obligation to compensate the person providing the feedback.
2. Accounts and Account Security
Some features require an account.
When creating or maintaining an account, you agree to provide information that is reasonably accurate and to keep information necessary for communicating with you current.
You are responsible for activity conducted through your account and for taking reasonable steps to protect your login credentials. Do not knowingly allow another person to use your account in a way that violates these Terms.
If you believe your account has been compromised or accessed without authorization, please contact us.
We may temporarily restrict or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to protect the account, other users, the Site, or the integrity of the service.
3. Age and Alpha Participation
The Site is intended to be a creative community suitable for a broad audience, including teenagers. It is not intended to be an adults-only website.
Our general content standards are therefore designed around an approximately PG-13 environment, while still allowing creators to explore serious, challenging, controversial, and mature subjects in appropriate ways.
During the Alpha proof of concept, however, you must be at least 18 years old to submit or publish a Seed or other original creative contribution.
This contributor-age restriction is an Alpha safeguard while we develop and test the systems governing submissions, permissions, moderation, ownership, and community participation. It should not be interpreted as a permanent decision that younger creators will be excluded from contributing in future versions of the Site.
4. Responsibility for Your Use of the Site
You are responsible for your use of the Site and for content you submit, publish, or otherwise make available through your account.
The Site contains content created by many different people. We cannot review every statement, opinion, factual claim, image, recording, video, link, or other contribution before someone encounters it.
The presence of content on the Site does not mean that we endorse it, agree with it, guarantee its accuracy, or consider it appropriate for every individual.
You are responsible for evaluating content you encounter and for taking reasonable precautions when following links, viewing embedded material, downloading files where downloads are permitted, or interacting with third-party services.
You may not use the Site to violate applicable law, infringe the rights of others, distribute malicious software, gain unauthorized access to systems or accounts, interfere with operation of the Site, or engage in fraudulent or deceptive activity.
5. Ownership of Your Content
Your original creative work remains yours.
Except for the rights and permissions you expressly grant through these Terms, submitting content to the Site does not transfer ownership of your original work to us.
You are responsible for making sure that you have the rights necessary to submit and publish everything you contribute. This includes not only the primary work but also photographs, artwork, music, recordings, video, quotations, excerpts, or other third-party material incorporated into it.
If material belongs to someone else, the fact that you can find it online does not necessarily mean that you have permission to reproduce or republish it.
6. Seeds, Inspiration, and Creative Genealogy
The Site is built around a particular idea: creative work can inspire new creative work, and the path of that inspiration is worth preserving.
Published creative contributions are called Seeds. A new Seed is created in response to an existing Parent Seed, allowing visitors to follow the evolution of an idea through different creators, interpretations, perspectives, and creative media.
Participation in this system carries several important rights and responsibilities.
6A. Allowing Your Seed to Inspire Others
By publishing a Seed, you understand and agree that other members may use the ideas, concepts, themes, questions, feelings, perspectives, or other inspiration they discover in your Seed as the starting point for new and original creative works submitted to the Site.
Where reasonably appropriate, another creator may also quote, reference, display, perform, or otherwise use a short and limited excerpt or portion of a Parent Seed as part of a substantially new and original contribution, provided that use does not amount to reproducing the Parent work in its entirety or substantially replacing the experience of the original.
For example, publishing a story does not give another user permission to create and publish an audiobook of your entire story without your approval. Publishing a photograph does not automatically authorize another creator to republish the complete photograph as their own work. Publishing music does not automatically authorize someone to reproduce the entire recording as the soundtrack to their video.
They may, however, create something inspired by those works within the permissions established by these Terms and applicable law.
The Parent Seed remains the work of its creator.
6B. Ownership of Child Seeds
The creator of a Parent Seed does not acquire ownership of a Child Seed merely because the Child was inspired by the Parent or appears beneath it in the creative genealogy.
The creator of the Child Seed retains ownership of their own original contribution, subject to any rights that may exist in material belonging to others.
In practical terms:
You retain ownership of what you create. Other creators retain ownership of what they create because you inspired them.
The Parent-Child relationship documents inspiration. It does not transfer ownership from one creator to another.
6C. License You Grant to the Site
When you submit or publish content, you grant the Site a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, resize, transcode where technically necessary, publicly display, publish, distribute, and otherwise make that content available as reasonably necessary to operate the Site and provide its features.
You also authorize us to use reasonable portions of your published content to promote your work and the Site as a whole.
This may include your Seed’s title, excerpts, descriptions, Discovery Images, Hero Images, other images, thumbnails, screenshots, short audio or video excerpts where appropriate, and similar portions of your publicly submitted material in social media, newsletters, promotional materials, demonstrations of the Site, and other reasonable marketing or community-discovery activities.
This license is non-exclusive. You remain free to publish, sell, license, and modify your original work elsewhere.
The Site does not become the owner of your creative work merely because you publish it here.
6D. Public Sharing and Discovery
A published Seed is intended to be publicly discoverable.
By publishing content publicly, you understand that other people may view it, link to it, discuss it, and share links to it through websites, email, social media, messaging services, and other ordinary methods of sharing public web content.
Where publicly available media supports standard embedding, people may also use ordinary embedding mechanisms provided by the applicable platform or service.
Sharing a link or using a standard public embed does not transfer ownership of the underlying work and does not grant permission to copy, download, reproduce, sell, or republish the work beyond rights otherwise provided by these Terms, the creator, the applicable third-party service, or law.
Discovery is an important part of this community. Public sharing helps people find individual creators and their work while also helping others discover the larger creative genealogy.
7. Parent Seeds and Meaningful Connection
A Seed submitted through the genealogy should have a reasonable creative relationship to its Parent Seed.
That relationship does not need to be literal or obvious. Inspiration can involve continuation, reinterpretation, disagreement, transformation, emotion, research, criticism, another medium, a different perspective, or an unexpected direction.
We encourage creative distance.
What we do not encourage is attaching unrelated work to popular Seeds simply to obtain visibility, promote unrelated material, manipulate discovery, or avoid the intended genealogy. Spam will not be allowed and will be removed and/or be grounds for account suspension or termination.
If the relationship is not obvious, creators are strongly encouraged to use About This Seed to explain what inspired the new contribution.
Seeds that appear to have no meaningful connection to their Parent, particularly when the genealogy appears to be used primarily for promotion or manipulation, may be reviewed, moved where technically possible, returned for clarification, unpublished, or removed.
8. Community Guidelines
This community exists to encourage creativity, curiosity, discussion, experimentation, and the evolution of ideas. Members do not have to agree with one another.
You are welcome to respectfully challenge an argument, criticize a creative work, disagree with an opinion, fact-check a claim, question an assumption, create satire, reinterpret an idea, or take inspiration in a direction the original creator never expected.
Disagreement is not misconduct.
How people treat one another, however, does matter.
Respect Other Participants
Do not use the Site to harass, bully, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or repeatedly target another person with abuse.
Trolling whose primary purpose is to provoke, disrupt, humiliate, or prevent others from participating normally in the community may also result in moderation.
Criticism of a work or idea is allowed. Persistent personal abuse of its creator is not allowed and may result in account suspension or termination.
Hate and Targeted Degradation
Content or conduct that promotes hatred, dehumanization, or targeted abuse of people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, political beliefs, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or similar protected characteristics may be removed.
Creative, journalistic, historical, educational, documentary, or critical examination of hatred and prejudice is not automatically prohibited merely because it discusses or depicts offensive ideas. Context and purpose matter.
Sexual and Nude Content
The Alpha is intended to remain appropriate for a broad audience that includes teenagers.
Sexually explicit or pornographic material is therefore not permitted during Alpha. Images or video displaying genitalia or exposed nipples are not permitted during Alpha, regardless of whether the intended context is sexual, artistic, documentary, or otherwise.
Nude or sexually suggestive depictions of minors are prohibited. Content that sexually exploits, sexualizes, or endangers minors is prohibited.
Creative works may address mature relationships, sexuality, sexual themes, or other adult subjects when they have a legitimate creative, literary, educational, journalistic, historical, or contextual purpose and do not contain material prohibited above.
These Alpha restrictions are intentionally more conservative while moderation and content-classification systems are being developed. Future versions of the Site may introduce content warnings, age controls, NSFW classifications, or other mechanisms that allow a broader range of legitimate artistic expression.
Violence and Graphic Content
Violence may be depicted or discussed when it serves a legitimate creative, literary, artistic, journalistic, historical, educational, documentary, or other contextual purpose.
However, excessively graphic violence and gore should be avoided. Material whose primary purpose appears to be shocking viewers through graphic violence, or that presents extreme violence without a reasonably discernible creative or contextual purpose, may be restricted or removed.
Context matters. Violence within a story, artwork, historical discussion, news report, documentary, or other meaningful creative work will not automatically be treated the same as material submitted primarily for shock value.
Illegal and Dangerous Activity
Do not use the Site to conduct, promote, facilitate, or solicit illegal or dangerous activity.
Creative, journalistic, educational, historical, or fictional discussion of crime or unlawful behavior is not the same as using the Site to facilitate actual wrongdoing.
Plagiarism and Intellectual Property
Do not knowingly present another person’s work as your own.
Do not use another person’s copyrighted or otherwise protected work beyond what you have permission or legal authority to use.
The fact that another member’s Seed can inspire yours does not erase that creator’s ownership of the Parent work.
Privacy and Personal Information
Do not publish another person’s private or personally identifying information without appropriate authorization, particularly when doing so could expose that person to harassment, fraud, physical danger, or other harm.
Spam, Scams, and Manipulation
Do not use the Site for scams, fraud, malicious links, repetitive spam, deceptive promotion, advertising or unrelated commercial solicitation.
Do not create Seeds primarily to manipulate discovery, genealogy, engagement, rankings, or other community systems.
Self-promotion is not inherently prohibited. Creators are naturally encouraged to share their work. Users’ public profiles allow links to portfolios, social pages, and other webpages for that purpose. The problem arises when community features are used primarily as a mechanism for unrelated promotion rather than genuine participation.
Impersonation and Deception
Do not impersonate another person or organization in a manner intended to deceive others about who you are.
Creative parody, satire, fictional characters, and clearly fictional presentations are not automatically prohibited simply because they imitate a style or presentation.
Security and Technical Abuse
Do not distribute malware or malicious code, attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems, intentionally interfere with Site operation, exploit vulnerabilities for harmful purposes, or otherwise attack the technical integrity of the Site.
9. Moderation and Enforcement
We want moderation to protect creative participation rather than unnecessarily restrict it.
We may review content or conduct when we believe these Terms may have been violated, when another participant reports a concern, when a rights holder contacts us, or when review is otherwise reasonably necessary to protect the community or Site.
Depending on the circumstances, we may ask for clarification or changes, return a Seed for revision, restrict visibility, remove or unpublish content, preserve a genealogy placeholder, restrict account functionality, suspend an account, terminate an account, or take other reasonable action.
Not every violation requires the same response, and not every moderation decision can be reduced to a mechanical rule. We may consider context, severity, intent, repetition, effect on other users, previous conduct, and the nature of the work.
Some Seeds may also require manual approval before becoming publicly visible. A delay in publication does not necessarily mean that a Seed has been rejected.
Because this is an Alpha, moderation procedures will continue to evolve as we learn what the community actually needs.
10. Reporting Content, Conduct, and Problems
During Alpha, the Contact Us form is the primary way to bring issues requiring human attention to us.
You may use it to report:
- Content you believe violates these Terms;
- Harassment, bullying, trolling, threats, or other participant conduct;
- Copyright, ownership, plagiarism, or permission concerns;
- Requests involving removal of your published Seeds;
- Account or contributor problems;
- Technical or Alpha-testing problems that require assistance; or
- Other concerns that you believe require review.
When reporting a particular Seed or interaction, please provide enough information for us to locate it, such as its title, creator, URL where available, and a brief explanation of the problem.
Submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome, but we will use reasonable efforts to review legitimate concerns.
11. Copyright and Other Rights Complaints
We respect intellectual-property rights and expect users to do the same.
If you believe material published on the Site infringes your copyright or another legal right, please contact us through the Contact Us process and provide sufficient information for us to identify the material, understand the rights you claim, and contact you regarding the request.
We may remove or restrict access to material when appropriate and may contact the contributor for additional information.
Repeated infringement or deliberate misuse of other creators’ work may result in account restrictions or termination.
12. Third-Party Services, Links, and Embedded Media
The Site may contain links to or content provided through third-party websites and services. Audio and Video Seeds, for example, may use supported external media providers rather than storing the primary media directly on the Site.
Third-party services are controlled by their respective providers, not by us. Their availability, functionality, privacy practices, terms, advertising, content, or policies may change without our control.
Your use of a third-party service may be governed by that provider’s own terms and policies.
A link to another website, or the ability to embed content from another service, does not necessarily mean that we endorse that website, service, creator, or content.
Established service terms commonly distinguish the platform from third-party websites and services over which it has no control.
13. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information are governed by our Privacy Policy, which should be read together with these Terms.
Information that you intentionally include in a public profile, published Seed, comment, discussion, or other public area should be treated as information you are choosing to make publicly visible.
14. Draft and Published Content
Content saved as a draft is not intended to be publicly displayed as a published Seed merely because it has been entered into the submission process.
Published Seeds, however, are intended to become part of the public creative genealogy.
Creators should therefore review their work before publishing and understand that publication may lead other people to view, share, discuss, link to, and create new Seeds inspired by it.
15. Account Deletion and Published Seeds
Deleting your account does not automatically delete your published Seeds.
This is necessary because a published Seed may have become the Parent of other Seeds. Automatically removing the entire record could damage or break portions of the creative genealogy and erase the documented connection between works created by other contributors.
Before deleting an account, you are responsible for reviewing your published Seeds and requesting removal of any individual Seeds that you no longer want publicly displayed.
When a published Seed must be removed, the Site may preserve its position in the genealogy using a notice such as:
“Removed at the contributor’s request.”
The original creative content would no longer be displayed through that Seed, while the minimum record necessary to preserve existing Parent and Child relationships may remain.
If you delete your account without requesting removal of particular published Seeds, those Seeds may remain publicly available. By leaving those Seeds published when you close your account, you are choosing to allow those previously published works to remain part of the creative genealogy and to continue providing inspiration for existing and future Child Seeds under these Terms.
If you later want previously published material removed, you may submit a request through the Contact Us process.
We will use reasonable efforts to remove approved content from public display, but deletion from the Site may not immediately remove cached copies, search-engine results, previously shared links, third-party embeds, social-media posts, or other copies outside our control. WordPress.com’s Terms similarly recognize that cached versions or references may remain temporarily available after content deletion.
16. Changes to the Site
We may modify, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features or portions of the Site.
This flexibility is particularly important during Alpha, when one purpose of participation is to discover what works, what does not, and what should change.
We do not guarantee that the Site, any particular feature, or any particular method of presenting or discovering content will remain available indefinitely.
Where reasonably practical, we will try to avoid unnecessary disruption to published creative genealogies.
17. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Like most websites, the Site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate and secure the service, maintain login sessions, remember preferences, understand Site usage, provide embedded third-party functionality, and perform other legitimate functions.
Some third-party services embedded in or connected to the Site may also place or use cookies according to their own policies.
Additional information about the personal information associated with these technologies and how it is used will be provided in the Privacy Policy and, if appropriate, a separate Cookie Policy or cookie-management interface.
18. Termination and Suspension
You may stop using the Site at any time, subject to the provisions above concerning published Seeds and account deletion.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of violations of these Terms, risks to other users or the Site, legal requirements, repeated abuse, security concerns, or other substantial reasons.
Where appropriate and reasonably practical, we may provide notice or an opportunity to correct a problem before terminating an account. Serious violations may require immediate action.
Termination of an account does not automatically erase provisions of these Terms that by their nature need to continue, including provisions concerning ownership, licenses already granted where applicable, responsibility for prior conduct, genealogy preservation, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
19. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and its services are provided “as is” and “as available.”
We make no warranty that the Site will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.
We do not warrant the accuracy, reliability, completeness, ownership, legality, or quality of content submitted by users.
Because this is an Alpha proof of concept, you specifically understand that you may encounter incomplete features, errors, interruptions, data-display problems, changes in functionality, or other issues associated with software and systems under active development.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
20. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site, its owner or operator, and persons involved in operating the service will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of, inability to use, or reliance upon the Site or user-submitted content.
This includes, where legally permissible, loss resulting from service interruptions, loss of data, third-party conduct, unauthorized access, reliance on user-generated information, or interactions between users.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited under applicable law.
21. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Site and its owner/operator from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Site, your infringement of another person’s rights, or content you submit without the necessary rights or permissions.

23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Site changes, particularly during Alpha and Beta development.
When changes are material, we will use reasonable methods to make users aware of them, such as posting the revised Terms, changing the “Last Updated” date, displaying a Site notice, requesting renewed acceptance, or providing another appropriate notification.
Your continued use of the Site after revised Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by law. Where applicable law or the nature of the change requires affirmative consent, we will request it.
These Alpha Terms are expected to be reviewed and revised before Beta and again before the Site’s broader public launch.
24. Miscellaneous
If a provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Our failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not necessarily waive our right to enforce it later.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies expressly incorporated into them, constitute the agreement governing your use of the Site unless another written agreement expressly applies.
Headings are provided for convenience and do not change the meaning of the provisions they describe.

The Contact Us process may also be used for copyright or ownership concerns, content and conduct reports, Seed-removal requests, account issues, Alpha feedback, and other matters requiring human review.
