The Creative Prompt Builder would turn The Inspiration Tree’s existing Seeds, Seed Types, Genres, Discovery Tags, and other creative variables into an interactive tool for overcoming creator’s block and encouraging new contributions.
Rather than functioning like a traditional Advanced Search, the tool would ask users to build a creative challenge. Users could select the elements they want to control and allow the system to randomly choose the rest.
Two modes could be offered:
Surprise Me
With one click, the system selects a random published Seed and creates a challenge using one of several curated formulas. For example:
Start with this Seed.
Reinterpret it as Mystery.
Use the emotion Regret.
Move the idea 100 years into the future.
Tell it from a child’s perspective.
Random challenges would use curated formulas rather than completely random combinations so the results remain useful while still being unpredictable.
Build My Challenge
Users could choose some creative variables themselves and leave others to chance. Options might include:
Seed Type • Genre • Discovery Tag • Emotion • Time Period • Place • Perspective • Medium • Creative Constraint
For example, a photographer might choose Photography + Future + Loneliness and let the system select the Parent Seed, location, and additional challenge.
Challenge Results
The generated result would display the selected Parent Seed card along with the creative challenge and actions such as:
Generate Another • Modify Challenge • Use This Challenge • Create Inspired Seed
The challenge should encourage creators to reinterpret rather than simply continue or reproduce the Parent Seed.

Traditional Advanced Search helps someone find something they already know they want. The Creative Prompt Builder would help someone discover what they might create next.
It turns the site’s taxonomy and growing library of Seeds into a creative engine. Writers, artists, photographers, musicians, audio creators, video creators, and others could use it whenever they want to create but don’t know where to begin.
Most importantly, it directly supports one of the site’s central goals: moving visitors from “I found this interesting” to “This inspired me to create something.”
As the Seed library grows, the possible combinations and creative challenges would grow with it, making the tool more valuable over time rather than less.
