There are many directions Expanded Creator Profiles could take, and we don’t expect to build everything at once. We want creators to help us decide which capabilities would actually help them showcase their work, promote themselves, find opportunities, and grow their creative careers, and which should be introduced first.
The larger vision is to make your profile much more than an account page. It could become a customizable public creative home, portfolio, résumé, promotional hub, and professional gateway that you would be comfortable sharing outside The Inspiration Tree.
Possibilities We’re Exploring
Here are some of the ideas we’re considering:
- Uploadable profile picture Avator
- Customizable Profile Design — Choose layouts, banners, images, featured sections, and how your public profile presents you and your work.
- Featured Work — Decide which Seeds, Collections, projects, or other creations visitors see first rather than relying on a chronological list.
- Multiple Creative Disciplines — Separately showcase your writing, photography, visual art, music, video, or other creative work.
- Portfolio — Build a professional portfolio directly from selected Seeds and Collections.
- Résumé/CV — Upload an existing résumé or create one that includes experience, skills, education, publications, exhibitions, performances, clients, and other relevant information.
- SEO Controls — Create your own SEO title, description, and other profile information to help people discover you through search engines.
- Social Sharing Optimization — Control how your profile and individual Seeds are presented when shared on major social platforms.
- External Links — Connect your website, social profiles, stores, publications, music platforms, portfolio sites, and other places where people can find your work.
- Professional Availability — Indicate whether you’re available for commissions, freelance work, employment, collaboration, licensing, teaching, speaking, representation, or other opportunities.
- Contact Options — Allow potential clients, employers, collaborators, or fans to contact you without requiring your personal email address to be publicly displayed.
- Creative Services — Explain what you actually offer, such as illustration, editing, photography, writing, music composition, narration, video production, design, or other services.
- Original vs. Inspired Work — Showcase both ideas you originated and Child Seeds you created from someone else’s work.
- Show How You Respond to a Creative Brief — Let prospective clients or employers see the Parent Seed you started with, how you interpreted it, and what you created from it. This can demonstrate an important professional skill: your ability to take someone else’s idea, concept, product, message, or vision and make something compelling from it.
- Creative Genealogy — Let visitors explore what has inspired your work and how your own creations have inspired other people.
- Collections & Larger Projects — Feature novels, albums, exhibitions, portfolios, anthologies, series, and other Collections as they become available.
- Private Seeds — Keep selected work private for drafts, works in progress, client material, unpublished projects, or material intended only for selected viewers.
- Professional Credits — Show work where you participated as an editor, illustrator, photographer, narrator, musician, producer, collaborator, or another role even when you weren’t the primary creator.
- Testimonials & Recommendations — Potentially allow clients, collaborators, or other members to provide professional recommendations.
- Analytics — See profile visits, Seed views, popular work, referral sources, outbound clicks, and other information that helps you understand how people discover and interact with your work.
- Google Analytics Integration — Potentially connect your profile and creative activity with your own analytics account for deeper tracking.
- Media/Press Kit — Provide biographies, approved images, selected work, contact information, links, and other resources for people interested in interviewing, featuring, hiring, or writing about you.
- Commissions & Creative Opportunities — Eventually allow people who discover your work to inquire about or request paid creative work.
- Sell Creative Work — Potentially offer original artwork, books, music, digital downloads, or other creations through your profile.
- Licensing — Let visitors know when photography, artwork, writing, music, video, or other work may be available for commercial use or licensing.
- Custom or Simplified Profile Address — Eventually provide a professional, easy-to-share address and potentially explore custom-domain options.
- Public or Private Profile Elements — Give you control over which parts of your creative and professional information are visible publicly, visible to members, shared selectively, or kept private.
Some of these possibilities connect directly with other Roadmap Candidates, particularly Collections, Creative Tools, Following, Private Seeds, and Creator Monetization, so they would not necessarily be developed as part of Expanded Profiles themselves.
What Would You Want?
We don’t want to decide which of these features creators need without asking creators.
Which would make your profile more valuable? Which would help you promote yourself or find work? Which would make you comfortable sending a potential client, employer, publisher, collaborator, or fan directly to your Inspiration Tree profile? What is missing from this list?
There are far too many possibilities to introduce at once. Your feedback can help us decide what belongs in Expanded Creator Profiles and, more importantly, what we should build first.
